Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 27, 2026  ·  Last updated: May 27, 2026

Safety Ally ("Ally", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Because Ally is an emergency-safety application, we handle some sensitive data — we take that responsibility seriously.

By using the Ally app or website you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

a) Information you provide

  • Name, phone number, and email address when you register or join the waitlist.
  • Emergency contacts you designate within the app.
  • Profile details and any content you submit through support channels.

b) Location data

  • Precise GPS location when you trigger an SOS or enable live location sharing.
  • General location used to populate your local directory of police, hospitals, and pharmacies.
  • Location is only transmitted to your designated contacts and relevant authorities during an active emergency event.

c) Device & usage data

  • Device identifiers, operating system version, and app version.
  • Crash logs and anonymised usage analytics to improve reliability.
  • IP address and browser type when you visit our website.

d) Sensor & audio data (optional features)

  • Microphone access is used solely for voice-trigger detection on your device; audio is processed locally and is not stored on our servers.
  • Volume button presses for discreet mode activation are handled on-device only.
  • Provide, operate, and improve the Ally platform and its safety features.
  • Dispatch SOS alerts to your emergency contacts and, where applicable, local first responders.
  • Personalise your experience — such as surfacing relevant nearby resources.
  • Communicate important updates, security notices, and product announcements.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or harmful activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Emergency contacts — your name, location, and alert status during an active SOS event.
  • First responders & authorities — location and incident data when you or we contact emergency services on your behalf.
  • Service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate our infrastructure (e.g. cloud hosting, analytics), bound by strict data-processing agreements.
  • Legal requirements — when required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of any person.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with prior notice to you.

Because location is central to Ally's safety mission, we treat it with extra care:

  • Precise location is only collected when a safety feature (SOS, live sharing) is actively in use.
  • Background location access, when granted, is used exclusively to enable automatic threat-zone alerts; it is never used for profiling or advertising.
  • You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings. Note that doing so disables core safety functionality.
  • Location history is retained for 30 days to help resolve disputes or investigations, then permanently deleted.

We implement industry-standard safeguards including end-to-end encryption for SOS transmissions, TLS for all data in transit, and AES-256 encryption at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis. Despite these measures, no system is completely immune — we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep your device software up to date.

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • Location history: 30 days.
  • Anonymised analytics: up to 24 months.
  • After account deletion, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights #

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request erasure of your personal data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection / restriction — object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at team@safetyally.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Ally is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child without appropriate consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data outside your jurisdiction (including outside the EEA), we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms to ensure your data remains protected.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of Ally after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
